I moved to Bushwick, Brooklyn in 2010 and over the past seven years I have seen it transform tremendously. When I first got there, there was a small coffee shop, a new sushi place, a tiny yet amazing pizza spot, and a bunch of converted factories that are now makeshift lofts. Now the place is barely recognizable. That coffee shop(s) are always packed, that sushi place has people from Manhattan hoping on the L train, the pizza place is now a foodie compound with a tasting restaurant that has hosted the Clintons and Jay-Z and Beyonce oh, and rents are through the roof! Every year since I moved there the next stop on the L train line was "new hot spot".
I started my real estate career around the same time I moved to Brooklyn and I have been beating myself up about all the lost opportunities ever since.
